About the Artist

Krissy is an artist & teacher living in Iowa. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in Art from Iowa State University in 2012 and her master’s degree in Teacher Effectiveness & Professional Development from Drake University in 2014. She has been working as an art teacher at Gilbert upon graduating ISU in 2012.

Drawing has always been my passion – it’s always a staple for me as I’ve grown up. I love working with a variety of mediums – paints, clay, photography, but drawing will always be my favorite. It’s so easy to have the supplies readily on hand so I can sketch anywhere! Don’t get me started on the amount of sketchbooks and planners that I have all around the house!

My work mainly centers around still scenes or working with faces as they are my favorite. The face can be so expressive and different from person to person it’s fun to create unique faces and imbibe them with personality. My techniques vary – I always start with an initial sketch and from there may choose to use a layering of inks, watercolors or acrylics.

I’m also drawn to anything techie so I love to take photos and edit them with Photoshop & Lightroom. I’m also starting to tinker around with Illustrator to see what I can create!
